Time Change Reminder
This is a friendly reminder that daylight savings time ends at 2:00 am on Sunday, November 1. The time change applies to most locations in the United States. Please remember to turn your clocks back 1 hour if the time change applies to your location.
Keep in mind that the time change poses greater risks for drivers. Setting the clocks back can disrupt the body’s internal clock, the sleep-wake cycle, and circadian rhythm. The increase in drowsy drivers coupled with shorter days creates a scenario ripe for accidents. Due to the darkness, it is more difficult to see pedestrians, so extra attention is needed to ensure their safety.
Don’t Drive While Sleepy
A time change can disrupt normal sleep patterns. Be sure not to drive if you are sleepy. Safe drivers make sure that they are well rested before getting behind the wheel.
Additionally, remember that studies have show that driving while drowsy can impair your ability to drive the same way as drinking too much alcohol. According to the CDC, staying awake for 18 hours is the same as someone having a blood alcohol content of 0.05%. Staying awake for 24 hours straight is equivalent to a blood alcohol content of 0.10%.

- Be mindful of high beam usage. Be sure to not use high beams when approaching pedestrians or other vehicles.
